QR3.15 Working in the Electrified Territory (WET)
The purpose of this course is to provide contractors and other authorised personnel with a basic understanding of the traction system‚ relevant electrical risks and minimum safe working requirements for work‚ while working in electrified territory within Queensland Rail. It also provides basic guidelines to report incidents and emergencies effectively.
Successful completion of this training is mandatory to perform work safely on or near high voltage electrical apparatus, in all electrified railways within Queensland Rail (unless the work is performed under direct supervision). This training does not grant access to railway corridors or facilities.

Topics

The following topics are covered within this course:
- Identify common terminology relevant to working in the 25Kv electrified territory.
- Outline legislative obligations and requirements of staff and contractors, for working in and around the electrified territory and overhead line equipment.
- Identify common electrical safety risks, hazards and controls in electrified areas.
- Describe the mandatory safeworking requirements for working in the 25Kv electrified territory within Queensland Rail.
- Describe how to safely respond and report faults, incidents and life threatening emergencies.
Entry Requirements

Participants completing this course must hold the following AQF competency units:
- CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry OR
- CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (superseded as at 07/04/2022 – Credit transfer to CPCWHS1001 required)
- TLIF0020 Safely access the rail corridor
Participants will also require a
- Rail Industry Worker Card
- Compliant Certificate of Fitness (Category 3 Rail Medical), including Drug & alcohol
- Queensland Rail Certificate of Achievement QR3.2 Safely access the rail corridor
Language Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N)

Participants undergo an assessment prior to commencement of training which assists us to identify any learning support which may be required. This course requires participants to have language, literacy and numeracy skill levels to be able to:
- Read and understand work safety signs and symbols
- Read and understand workplace policies, procedures and information
- Understand basic spoken English
- Communicate basic safety-related information

Recertification

The Queensland Rail Certificate of Achievement (QR3.15 Working in the Electrified Territory) is valid for 3 years (1095 days) from date of training.
Before the expiry date‚ students will need to return to CERT to complete a recertification. If the expiry date has passed‚ the student must return to CERT and re-sit the full Working in the Electrified Territory (WET) course.

Medical Requirement
Category 3 Rail Medical (CAT 3)
A Category 3 Rail Medical, often referred to as a CAT 3 Medical, is an assessment designed to help non-safety critical workers make sure their health and fitness does not impact the rail network. The CAT 3 Medical tests your ability to operate safely in the rail corridor so you can hear instructions, move to a safe place, and maintain an awareness of your surroundings.
