A Category 3 Rail Medical, is designed to help non-safety critical workers make sure their health and fitness does not impact the rail network. The CAT 3 Rail medical tests your ability to operate safely in the rail corridor so you can hear instructions, move to a safe place, and maintain an awareness of your surroundings.

You will require one of the following forms of photo ID with you on the day to verify your ID and your current Medicare Card.
The Medical Provider will not be able to conduct your medical without these.

CAT 3 Rail Medicals will be conducted at the beginning of the day prior to training commencing.

Category 3 Rail medicals are valid from the date of commencement to:
• Up until the age 40
• Aged 40+: Require renewal every 5 years
Category 3 rail workers who have had a full health assessment less than 5 years before turning 40 (e.g. for pre-employment) may have their next periodic assessments scheduled 5 years from that date.
