ARTC Code of Practice for the Defined Interstate Network
Track Worker Level 3 will equip you with the skills to implement, manage and fulfill the Track Work Authority (TWA) method of worksite protection where the Code of Practice for the Defined Interstate Rail Network and the ARTC Addendum rules and procedures apply.

Entry Requirements

The pre-requisites for this course are as follows:
 
  • ARTC CoP Handsignaller and Track Worker Level 1
  • ARTC CoP Track Worker Level 2
  • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
  • TLIF0020 Safely access the rail corridor 
  • TLIF0027 Perform lookout duties
  • TIF2082 Perform handsignaller duties
  • TLIF0023 Conduct track protection assessment
  • TLIW0007 Operate under track protection rules
  • TLIW2037 Clip and secure points
  • TLIF2097 Use audible track warning devices
  • TLIL0010 Implement track occupancy authority
  • TLIC0025 Pilot rail traffic within work on track authority limits
  • TLIC0083 Access rail track to run track vehicle within defined worksite

Participants will also require a

  • Compliant Certificate of Fitness (Category 1)

Language Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N)

Participants will undergo an LL&N assessment at the commencement of the course. This course requires participants to have LL&N levels to be able to:

  • Read and understand work safety signs and symbols
  • Read and understand workplace policies and procedures
  • Communicate identified hazards

Assessment

__________________

  • Theory Assessment (In Class)
  • Practical On Job Training – This involves the completion of a Practical Logbook, Practical Workbook & Supervisor Report. These need to be signed off by an already qualified person
  • Assessment of Competence – The Competency Assessment is conducted one on one with a CERT assessor at completion of all Practical On Job Training

Delivery Method

  • Face to face workshop (one day) and then on the job training at participants workplace

Recertification

__________________

  • The ARTC Certificate of Achievement is valid for two (2) years from date of issue. 
  • Recertification is required every two (2) years from the date of assessment.
  • Recertification takes four (4) hours and can be scheduled as required.

Medical Requirement

Category 1 Rail Medical (CAT 1)

This is the highest level of rail medical available and is for rail workers or contractors undertaking a safety critical role requiring a high level of attentiveness to their tasks and where sudden incapacity may result in a serious incident affecting the public or the rail network.
