Core Units
The TLI27120 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure Core Units are the fundamental building blocks required for the National Track and Civil Rail Labourer job role. This course is ideal for persons wanting to undertake basic work within the rail infrastructure environment.

The TLI27120 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (Core Units) is designed for all Rail Track Workers engaged in basic workings within the rail infrastructure environment who are undertaking a range of tasks involving known routines and procedures.

This course has been designed to cover skills and knowledge in maintaining and using hand tools, shifting materials safely using manual handling methods, communicating information about routine tasks or processes, following and applying work health and safety (WHS) procedures, caring for the environment during rail infrastructure maintenance and construction activities and applying fatigue management strategies

Entry Requirements

The pre-requisites for this course are as follows:

  • TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor    OR
  • TLIF2080 Safely Access the Rail Corridor

 

Entry to this course is contingent on participants wearing appropriate PPE including:

  • Orange hi-vis
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Long pants
  • Steel capped boots
  • Gloves.

Language Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N)

Participants undergo an assessment prior to commencement of training which assists us to identify any learning support which may be required. This course requires participants to have language, literacy and numeracy skill levels to be able to:

  • Read and understand work safety signs and symbols
  • Read and understand workplace policies, procedures and information
  • Understand basic spoken English
  • Communicate basic safety-related information
