Funding is available for the first 200 eligible students and will be automatically applied if you meet the criteria and apply for the funded training course (via the links on this page). To be eligible for funding, you must meet the criteria outlined by the Victorian Skills Gateway available here.
Yes – you can use the knowledge and skills you already possess from on-the-job training or previous formal or informal learning, to get qualified while you work! To apply for Recognition of Prior Learning you will need to register for this course and contact our office to discuss your application. You be eligible for RPL, you will need to be able to demonstrate evidence of your skills and experience via online, paper and video content plus, undertake a final practical and assessment component. You can apply for RPL even if you are not eligible for the government funding.

This course leads to a full Qualification which comprises core units as well as additional elective units. A National Qualification is the highest level of competency you can achieve for this skill set.
For new rail entrants, the Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure course will run for a minimum of 5 weeks, which includes 3 weeks of full-time, face-to-face theory and, 2 weeks of on-site practical and assessment.
For individuals who are currently engaged in the rail industry, there is an option to undertake up to 3-months of self-paced online learning, with two weeks of practical and assessment. The course is completed, and a qualification gained only once you have successfully undertaken and passed all assessments. You can contact our office on 1300 042 378 to discuss the learning timeline which best suits you.
Once you have finished your final assessment, you will be declared either ‘Competent’ or ‘Not Yet Competent’. When you are assessed as competent, you will receive a National Qualification for TLI27121 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure.
Once you receive your National Qualification, we will ensure your RIW card is updated. For individuals without an RIW card, we can assist you with the process to obtain your card.
