NSW ARTC Track Examiner & Certifier
Overview
This course involves the skills and knowledge required to check and repair track geometry, examine track and right of way infrastructure in accordance with safeworking and regulatory requirements and workplace procedures. It includes determining the job requirements, restoring track geometry, checking track compliance after work and completing required documentation. This course also involves preparing for examination, examining track and right of way, analysing examination results and reporting findings, patrolling the track and right of way infrastructure, and recording identified defects.

Certificates
Upon successful completion of all assessments, students will receive:
- TLIB3094 Check and repair track geometry
- TLIB3099 Examine track infrastructure
- TLIB3100 Visually inspect track infrastructure
- ARTC Track Certifier and Examiner

- Examine track and right of way infrastructure including preparing for examination
- Examining track and right of way
- Analysing examination results
- Reporting findings
Entry Requirements
Including Language Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N):
- Read and understand work safety signs and symbols
- Read and understand workplace policies and procedures
- Communicate identified hazards and necessary instructions
- hold current Category 3 rail medical
- provide 100 points of identification on the day of the course
- must hold:
- TfNSW SX52 Accessing the Rail Corridor or
- ARTC National Track Safety Awareness (NTSA)
Plus hold all of the below:
Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure units:
- TLIB1028 Maintain and use hand tools
- TLIB2085 Apply track fundamentals
- TLIB2092 Operate minor mechanical equipment
- TLIB2097 Install and maintain guard rails
- TLIB2121 Maintain rail joints
- TLID1001 Shift materials safely using manual handling methods
- TLIE1003 Participate in basic workplace communication
- TLIF1001 Follow work health and safety procedures
- TLIF2010 Apply fatigue management strategies
- TLIS2030 Carry out track ballasting
- TLIS2031 Install railway sleepers
- TLIS2034 Install and repair rail fastening systems
- TLIS2044 Carry out rail installation
- TLIU2008 Apply environmental procedures to rail infrastructure
- TLIW2001 Operate under track protection rules
Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure units:
- TLIB3095 Check and repair points and crossings
Assessment Methods

- Theory assessment
- On-the-job workbook
- Practical assessment (conducted once on-the-job workbook completed succesfully)

- This course is facilitated via face to face workshop (five days) and work-based learning
