Upon successful completion of all assessments, students will receive:
Statement of Attainment (Nationally Recognised)
- TLIL3084 - Implement a local possession authority
- ARTC NSW Protection Officer Level 4
Topics
The following topics are covered within this course:
- Review of Protection Officer Level 1, 2 and 3
- Describe the general requirements of an LPA
- Identify the Possession Protection Officer's responsibilities during LPA working
- Follow the correct procedures to protect worksites within the limits of an LPA
- Identify the Protection Officer's responsibilities when protecting a worksite with an LPA
- Follow the correct procedure to return the track to normal service
- Pilot a work train or track vehicles within the limits of an LPA
Entry Requirements
Including Language Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N):
Participants will undergo an LL&N assessment at the commencement of the course. This course requires participants to have LL&N levels to be able to:
- Read and understand work safety signs and symbols
- Read and understand workplace policies and procedures
- Communicate identified hazards and necessary instructions
- be a qualified Handsignaller Level 2
- be a qualified Protection Officer Level 3
- hold current Category 1 rail medical
- CPCCWHS1001 Work safely in the construction industry
- provide 100 points of identification on the day of the course
- must hold :
- TfNSW SX52 Accessing the Rail Corridor or
- ARTC National Track Safety Awareness (NTSA)
- a Rail Industry Worker (RIW) ID card with the above items listed on it
Assessment Methods
The following assessment methods are used within this course:
- Theory assessment (in class)
- On job workbook - this needs to be signed off by an already qualified Protection Officer level 1-4. You must be able to provide evidence from the person (must hold at least the minimum qualification of those being signed off) who has signed
- Practical assessment - conducted one on one with a CERT assessor (at completion of on job workbook)
Delivery Method
- Face to face workshop (two days) and then on the job training at participants workplace
Recertification
The ARTC Certificate of Achievement is valid for two (2) years from date of issue. Once the two (2) years are up, the student will need to return to CERT to complete a recertification.
