CERT Training Update in response to ONRSR Safety Alert RSA-2023-001

Monday 18 December 2023 at 11:30am AEST

CERT Training became aware that possibly compromised on-job-training workbooks had been supplied for some of its ARTC Safeworking courses. In response, an internal review was launched, during which we collaborated with the relevant stakeholders.

The review concluded that there were incidents where workbook evidence for on-job training supplied to CERT Training had been compromised. The incidents related to a single employer.

We have been proactive in our communication with impacted Safeworkers and their current employers and offering the appropriate support. We continue to work with industry bodies to ensure that rail safety is not compromised.

You can read the ONRSR Safety Alert here.

We stand by our core business values as we support impacted students to achieve their certification goals and uphold the integrity of our training.

FAQ

What happend?

CERT Training has become aware of possibly compromised on-job-training workbook evidence, which had been provided by students to CERT Training, for ARTC Safeworking courses.

Compromised evidence has been isolated to workbooks completed whilst in the employment of a single company up to the 20th November 2023.

What certifications have been rescinded?

Safeworking certifications issued by CERT Training remain valid unless you are contacted directly regarding your accreditation.  A limited number of students who undertook ARTC Safeworking training in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia; and completed their on-job-practical training with  the impacted employer, have been contacted, and had their certifications reversed due to compromised evidence.

What does this mean for my training certifications?

If you have not been contacted by phone and/or email about your Safeworking workbook evidence, your certification remains valid, and you do not need to do anything.

All impacted Safeworkers, and affected rail operators, have been notified.

If you have concerns about the validity of your Safeworking accreditations, please contact us to discuss.

How can I check the status of a certification?

CERT Training has made contact with those affected,  to notify them of changes to their Safeworking certification.

All Safeworkers impacted have had their RIW status updated.
