Duration and Delivery Method

All UGLRL Safeworking courses (excluding Recertification) include a component of face-to-face facilitated training, on-job practical application and an assessment of competence.

Each UGLRL Safeworking course includes the following number of face-to-face training days:

  • 1-Day: Protection Officer Level 3 & 4
  • 2-Days: Protection Officer Level 1 & 2,  UGLRL Safeworking Level 1& 2
  • 3-Days: Handsignaller Level 1 & 2
  • 5-Days: Track Vehicle Operator

Safeworking Recertifications are comprised of 4-hour face-to-face assessment with a practical observation and a review of supplementary evidence.

UGL Regional Linx  manages all rail operations and maintenance on the Country Regional Network (CRN) in NSW. The NSW CRN includes approximately 2,386 kilometers of operational standard gauge lines for passenger and freight rail.

What are the Entry Requirements:

EachUGL Regional Linx Safeworking Training Program has different entry requirements and certification outcomes however, you must be employed or contracted by an authorised UGLRL Safeworking organisation to undertake these courses.

Where Can I Undertake This Course?

We can deliver our services at our NSW locations: Thornton, Chullora, and Wollongong, or we can arrange to delivery off-site at a location that is convenient for you.

Language Literacy and Numeracy Requirements:

Participants undergo an assessment prior to commencement of training which assists us to identify any learning support which may be required. This course requires participants to have language, literacy and numeracy skill levels to be able to:

  • Read and understand work safety signs and symbols
  • Read and understand workplace policies, procedures and information
  • Understand basic spoken English
  • Communicate basic safety-related information
Additional Enrolment Information

Applicants for these training courses must be working under the supervision of a suitably qualified workplace supervisor or mentor and have access to a live rail environment  to be able to complete the on-the-job workbook. Please contact our team for more information about these requirements.

Assessment Cost:

Please note that the assessments for UGL Regional Linx training courses are charged separately. Payment is required prior to undertaking your assessment and any repeat assessments will be an additional charge.
