- Performance Assessment
This unit of competencies equips individuals with the skills and knowledge to provide an effective first response to fire incidents in onshore and offshore facilities. It applies to workers in environments such as factories, production plants, offshore platforms, petrochemical facilities, pipelines, and maintenance bases, where immediate action may be required before professional responders arrive.
Participants will learn to safely contain and extinguish minor fires, use first-attack firefighting equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, hose reels, fire blankets), and support the mobilisation of emergency services or evacuation efforts if needed.
The unit is designed for operators, frontline workers, or team members with basic skills, working under supervision, and may be relevant to organisations covered by Major Hazard Facility legislation. Some states or territories may have specific licensing or regulatory requirements.
