This course covers the requirements to enter and work in confined spaces in the resources and infrastructure industries. This course is appropriate for those working in operational roles undertaking work in confined spaces.



Upon successful completion of all assessments, students will receive:

  • Safety procedures, statutory and regulatory authority requirements
  • Safe working practices
  • Working in a confined space
  • Hazards and risk associated with working in confined spaces and implement control methods
  • Inspection of equipment

Entry Requirements

Including Language Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N):

Participants will undergo an LL&N assessment at the commencement of the course. This course requires participants to have LL&N levels to be able to:

  • Read and understand work safety signs and symbols
  • Read and understand workplace policies and procedures
  • Communicate identified hazards and work instructions
  • Communicate with stand-by person
  • Read and understand equipment manufacturer's instructions and specifications
Training and assessment involves moderate to high physical activity. Participants are required to be able to freely walk, bend and twist.

  • Theory assessment
  • Practical demonstration
