Work safely at heights



This course covers the requirements to work safety at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries. This course is appropriate for those working in operational roles where required to perform work at heights.



Upon successful completion of all assessments, students will receive:

  • Definitions
  • Height and safety procedures, statutory and regulatory authority requirements
  • Working at heights equipment and components
  • Safe working practices
  • Safe shifting and handling of tools and materials
  • Fall protection
  • Hazards and risk associated with working at heights and implement control methods

Entry Requirements

Including Language Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N):

Participants will undergo an LL&N assessment at the commencement of the course. This course requires participants to have LL&N levels to be able to:
  • Read and understand work safety signs and symbols
  • Read and understand workplace policies and procedures
  • Communicate identified hazards and work instructions
  • Read and understand equipment manufacturer's instructions and specifications

Training and assessment involves moderate to high physical activity. Participants are required to be able to freely walk, bend and twist, perform safe lifting techniques.

  • Theory assessment
  • Practical demonstration
