This course has been designed for entry-level individuals who are new to the rail operations environment.
The Rail Operations Fundamentals Skill Set will provide you with a pathway to the Certificate IV in Train Driving.
It will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to enter the rail corridor, apply fatigue management strategies, use communications, apply effective safety critical communications, follow work health and safety procures and develop an awareness of railway fundamentals such as track, trackside equipment, fixed structures, rolling stock and rail vehicles.

There are no formal prerequisites for this course. However, an industry requirement mandates that participants hold a valid Rail Medical assessment—either Category 3 or Category 1, depending on the job role and specific position requirements.

Note: Before attending the face-to-face class, the following requirements must be completed
Learner Guides
All participants must read and familiarise themselves with the provided learner guides. These guides contain essential information that will be covered during the class.

Pre-Course Assessments
Prior to attending the face-to-face sessions, you must complete four knowledge assessments. These assessments ensure that you have understood the material and are prepared for the in-person portion of the course.

You cannot attend the face-to-face session unless both the learner guides and knowledge assessments have been completed. This is to ensure you are fully prepared and can engage effectively during the class.

The pre-class preparation ensures that all participants have a solid understanding of the course content, allowing the face-to-face session to be more interactive and beneficial.
