What Should I Expect During Training

This course will run full-time for 6-weeks, excluding weekends, at our training facility in Salisbury.
Training is delivered face-to-face by one of our highly experienced, supportive rail trainers.
This course includes both theory and practical learning, ensuring you can apply your newfound knowledge to real-world scenarios.
You will demonstrate your knowledge through an in-person practical assessment.

Entry Considerations

The role of a rail infrastructure worker requires students to have a Category 3 Rail Medical and CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry. The rail medical and construction induction course are not required to attend training and can be undertaken at any time prior to beginning work in the rail industry.
You must also have the right to live and work in Australia.

Participants undergo an assessment prior to commencement of training which assists us to identify any learning support which may be required. This course requires participants to have language, literacy and numeracy skill levels to be able to:
- Read and understand work safety signs and symbols
- Read and understand workplace policies, procedures and information
- Understand basic spoken English
- Communicate basic safety-related information

Medical Requirement
CAT 3 Medical
A Category 3 Rail Medical, often referred to as a CAT 3 Medical, is an assessment designed to help non-safety critical workers make sure their health and fitness does not impact the rail network. The CAT 3 Medical tests your ability to operate safely in the rail corridor so you can hear instructions, move to a safe place, and maintain an awareness of your surroundings.
