Prepare for post-COVID Projects in Victoria
Victorian COVID-19 restrictions have caused many projects to reduce workforce capacity to 25% or less. As restrictions are eased, more opportunities will arise as the demand for project completion increases. A number of State and federal rail infrastructure projects are being considered as a means to rebuild the economy.
CERT Training is focused on the future and how we can support local Victorians to return to the workforce.
If you are looking for a career in the rail industry, entry level rail courses such as SARC (Safely Access the Rail Corridor – regional Victorian network), TTSA (Train Track Safety Awareness – metropolitan network) and CORE units rail infrastructure are being offered. These courses are suitable for individuals without any previous rail knowledge or experience.
Check out the pages below for more information and future dates available. To assist with those living outside Melbourne during the current Victorian COVID-19 travel restrictions, CERT Training is offering some classes in Ballarat.
Rail Infrastructure Core Units – Suitable for new entrants with no previous rail industry knowledge, this course will teach you the basics of rail infrastructure with practical demonstrations of hand tools, hazard identification and risk control, appropriate forms of communication and track protection requirements.
Safeworking courses are also currently being offered to meet the needs of the existing workforce. Safely Access the Rail Corridor (SARC) is being offered in Ballarat on Fridays during restrictions (subject to demand) to reduce the need for workers to travel in Stage 4 restricted areas. SARC meets the need for rural worker to work in V/LINE and ARTC for Victoria but not Metro Melbourne area.
TTSA (Melbourne Metro) is the safety course required for initial access to the Melbourne Metropolitan network and is continuing to be delivered at our Brooklyn facility. This is suitable for new entrants who are seeking employment in the rail industry or for contractors who require access to the metropolitan rail corridor.
