QR 3.15 WET (Working in the Electrified Territory) is a Queensland Rail (QR) course designed to equip workers and contractors with the essential knowledge required to work safely in electrified areas of the QR network. The training covers the operation of the electric traction system‚ relevant terminology, electrical risks, legislative obligations, and emergency procedures. It aims to prevent injuries and incidents associated with high-voltage electrical apparatus present on or near electrified railway lines.
This course is mandatory for anyone performing work on or near the electrified portion of the Queensland Rail network unless directly supervised and is a prerequisite for obtaining or maintaining the relevant RIW (Rail Industry Worker) card for QR electrified areas.
Upon successful completion, learners receive a QR 3.15 Working in the Electrified Territory certificate. This certification is valid for 3 years, after which recertification is required. 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to apply fatigue management strategies within the transport and logistics industry. Work is undertaken in compliance with relevant legislation‚ regulations‚ codes and guidelines.

It includes identifying and acting on signs of fatigue and implementing appropriate strategies to minimise fatigue during work activities‚ in particular when operating equipment, trains, vehicles, load shifting equipment, etc

This course is designed to develop and further increase participant’s communication and negotiation skills across the rail industry and improve safety critical communications behaviours.

This course will revise, refresh and reset your existing skills in communication and practice applying effective safety critical communications behaviours to the rail industry.
 

This course involves understanding the fundamentals of track maintenance and construction and carrying out basic track measurements in accordance with approved standards‚ safeworking and regulatory requirements and workplace procedures. It includes identifying track terminology, track components and track tools and equipment, and undertaking basic track measurement. 

While the unit of competency provided in this course is nationally recognised, additional network-specific training or induction may be required before you are able to work on some networks.

This medical is valid from the date of the issue until the employee reaches 40 years of age. After the age of 40‚ a medical renewal is required every 5 years.

The Category 3 Rail Medical is the minimum requirement to work within the Rail Corridor.

Please note Medical results can take up to 2 business days to be processed and results returned from the medical provider.

Participants under 18 years of age must provide written permission from a parent or legal guardian before attending this medical assessment. The completed permission must be received and recorded before the booking is confirmed

This course covers the requirements to perform slinging techniques, including the selection and inspection of lifting gear and/or the directing of the crane operator in the movement of the load when the load is out of view of the crane / operator for licensing purposes. 

This unit covers the scope of work to demonstrate competency in the application of slinging techniques, selection and inspection of lifting gear and/or the directing of the crane/ operator in the movement of the load.

Please note for this course a WorkSafe licence fee applies. This fee is collected by WorkSafe to issue your High Risk Work Licence (DG Class). The application form is completed on the day and CERT submits this directly to WorkSafe on your behalf – meaning you just have to complete the course and then wait for your permit to arrive in the mail. The application fee is $100.00 for a new licence or $78.50 to add a class to an existing licence. 

 

This course covers performing basic rigging work, associated with movement of plant and equipment, steel erections, hoists (including mast climbing hoists), placement of pre-cast concrete, safety nets and static lines, perimeter safety screens and shutters, and cantilever crane loading platforms for licensing purposes.

This course requires you to be able plan the work, select and inspect equipment, set up task, erect structures and plant, and dismantle structures and plant. This course is based upon the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work.

This course covers performing rigging work at the intermediate level, which includes all the outcomes for rigging work at the basic level and also includes rigging of cranes, rigging of conveyors, rigging of dredges and excavators, rigging associated with tilt slabs, rigging associated with demolition work and dual lifts for licensing purposes.

Purpose
To ensure workers holding current QR3.2 (Safely Access the Rail Corridor) qualification maintain up-to-date knowledge, skills, and compliance with Queensland Rail’s safety management system, network rules, and operational procedures. This reaccreditation reinforces correct application of safe working principles in both standard and electrified environments, ensuring continued competence and authorisation to perform rail activities on the Queensland Rail network.
Scope
This reaccreditation program covers a refresher of legislative and regulatory requirements, Queensland Rail’s network access protocols, and hazard management processes when working within the rail corridor. It includes review of: The course is designed for rail workers, contractors, and employees whose QR3.2 accreditation is approaching the three-year expiry period.
Outcome
 

This course is designed for Queensland Rail employees who need to perform RCPO duties. It provides training to help participants plan work in the rail corridor outside the danger zone, establish a worksite in the rail corridor using the best protection level requirements for workers, and determine the appropriate equipment requirements for the selected protection level.

This course is for Queensland Rail employees or contractors who are employed in, or transitioning into, the role of Protection Officer on the Queensland Rail network. Participants are required to assess, plan and implement trackside safety protection for themselves or their workgroups in accordance with Queensland Network Rules and Procedures (QNRP)

Typical participants include Queensland Rail employees and principal contractor staff nominated by Queensland Rail to perform Protection Officer duties, including track and civil maintenance crews, infrastructure project delivery personnel, and other rail corridor workers whose role requires them to hold Protection Officer authorisation under Queensland Rail's competency framework.

The course assumes that participants are employed and have been nominated by Queensland Rail or an approved contractor to undertake Protection Officer training. It is not suitable for jobseekers or workers without confirmed employment and a clear operational requirement to perform Protection Officer duties on the Queensland Rail network.

This course is for Queensland Rail employees or contractors who are employed in the role of Protection Officer on the Queensland Rail network and are approaching their three-year reaccreditation. Participants are required to complete a reaccreditation assessment in which they will assess, plan and implement trackside safety protection for themselves or their workgroups in accordance with Queensland Network Rules and Procedures (QNRP)
 

On the successful completion of this course learners will obtain the Queensland Rail enterprise qualification QR3.3 Communications (QRNP), as well as the national unit of competency:

This qualification is required by any worker required fit a points clip to secure a set of points on the QR Network. On successful completion of this course learners will obtain a Queensland Rail enterprise qualification as well as the national unit of competency:

Our QLD Rail Labourer course is a general qualification for personnel engaged in basic operations within the rail infrastructure environment who undertake a range of tasks involving known routines and procedures.
This program will provide students with the skills to fill the role as a generic Rail Labourer. This role is for individuals working in the danger zone on or about the track performing general labouring duties‚ working under the supervision of specific Track Worker Roles like Track Maintainers.   

This course has been designed for entry-level individuals who are new to the rail operations environment.
The Rail Operations Fundamentals Skill Set will provide you with a pathway to the Certificate IV in Train Driving. 
It will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to enter the rail corridor, apply fatigue management strategies, use communications, apply effective safety critical communications, follow work health and safety procures and develop an awareness of railway fundamentals such as track, trackside equipment, fixed structures, rolling stock and rail vehicles.
 

 

It is designed to give learners the skills and knowledge required to safely enter and navigate around the rail corridor and danger zone with the permission of the access provider, in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
